The 2022 season of the NASCAR Cup Series began at the Daytona International Speedway. Here is who won the Daytona 500.

On the Sunday following the Super Bowl was the official start to the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season. The first official race of the year was the prestigious Daytona 500, taking place from the Daytona International Speedway.

40 drivers qualified for the 200 lap race, but who was the one to cross the finish line as the winner of the 64th edition of the Daytona 500?

Austin Cindric won the Daytona 500. Bubba Wallace finished in second and Chase Briscoe placed third.

On the 191st lap, there was a seven car crash involving Kevin Harvick and Chase Elliott. After the race restarted after the delay, there was another crash on the 195th lap which took out Ricky Stenhouse, who was leading the race on that very lap.

Once the white flag was waved, there was a mad dash to catch up to Cindric, with Wallace looking like he could pass him. Ultimately, Cindric’s lead was just too much, and he crossed the finish line first. This was how close it was:

The next race of the NASCAR Cup Series is the Wise Power 400 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. on Sunday, Feb. 27.
