Noooooooo! Daniel Ricciardo’s 2022 season looked to be starting well in Barcelona testing, but Bahrain has gone from bad to a heck of a lot worse
Missing testing last week after catching Covid-19, a water leak in FP2 saw Danny Ric lose out on running yesterday. Combined with McLaren’s problems with overheating breaks, it’s proved to be a recipe for disaster as Ricciardo failed to make it out of Q1 in Bahrain today.
“P18 shows it was definitely tricky,” the Aussie said. “Coming here in different conditions and a different style of circuit, it really threw a few more challenges at us and definitely took time to figure it out, and obviously still not there.”
Danny Ric would have been hoping to put a tough 2021 behind him, but now he finds himself being outqualified by super-sub Nico Hulkenberg, but his lack of pace hasn’t caught him unaware.
“It’s been an uphill battle, and I want to say obviously disappointed, but not too surprised,” he added.
