It’s finally time for the start of a bold new era of Formula 1 as the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix takes place this weekend.
Once again, Sky Sports F1 holds exclusive rights to broadcast live coverage of Formula 1 in 2022, with Channel 4 again showing highlights of all 22 races confirmed for the calendar so far. Channel 4 will again show the British Grand Prix live this summer.
In the United States, ESPN will remain the exclusive home of the sport on television, with coverage of sessions split between ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNEWS or ESPNU.
As the race in Bahrain will again take place under floodlights in the evening, the race will begin at the usual time of 3pm UK time – the same start time that the majority of European races will begin this year.
This weekend also marks the start of both the Formula 3 and Formula 2 championships, with revised race weekend formats for both series seeing the return of the double-header system, with sprint races held on Saturdays and feature races on Sundays. Sunday will also see the second round of the IndyCar Series at Texas Motor Speedway – the first oval round of the championship.
