If there was an award for ‘Driver Of The First Two Races’, we’d be voting for Kevin Magnussen. His last-minute Haas comeback has been nothing short of sensational.

P5 in Bahrain and P9 in Saudi Arabia means the Dane has given the team their best start of the season since their 2016 debut and his boss Guenther Steiner was understandably full of praise for K-Mag, hailing it as a “Viking Comeback”.

However, turns out the Team Principal has reconsidered and admitted to giving Kevin a new nickname after the race in Jeddah. So what did Steiner call him? King K-Mag, Super Kev, Kevin ‘The Man’gussen. Not quite.

“He wanted to play it how we are [like] a Viking, so I called him the ‘Viking with the weak neck!” Steiner revealed on the F1 Nation podcast.

“He was sore and it’s one of these things, especially on this race track with the high speed corners. If you haven’t driven one of these cars for a year, I think it is very demanding.”

Poor Kevin! Drivers spend months preparing for the upcoming season and that lack of prep has taken a massive physical toll on him, as he’s suffering badly with neck issues.

Following qualifying in Jeddah, he admitted that he felt like his neck “broke” and during the race it wouldn’t hold, so he was forced to rest it on the headrest a lot. OUCH! 😬

Pulling nearly 5Gs across a 50-lap race, we’re just surprised he’s able to sit up at all.

How would you rate Kevin’s performance so far this season? Let us know in the comments below.
