Who won the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Phoenix Raceway?

On Saturday, the NASCAR Xfinity Series traveled to Phoenix Raceway for the fourth race of the 2023 season.

Cole Custer, a two-time runner up in the standings back in 2018 and 2019, started the race on the pole, the 13th of his career. He is running full-time in the Xfinity Series after an unsuccessful three-year run in the Cup Series.

Other notable entries in the field included Ryan Truex, younger brother of former Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr. and a pair of gentlemen pulling double duty this weekend in Josh Berry and Kyle Busch.

NASCAR Xfinity Series: Who won the United Rentals 200?

The race at Phoenix was full of action, including some surprising championship contenders being taken out via wrecks.

Justin Allgaier, one of the most successful drivers in the series’ history, won both Stage 1 and Stage 2 before being collected in a wreck with Kaz Grala at the end of the race, ending his day.

In the end, 18-year-old Sammy Smith held on to win the race over Ryan Truex. Smith led 92 laps on the day, far more than any other driver, and looked to be in complete control all day. His victory at Phoenix came in just his 13th career race.
