Kyle Larson is set to compete for Kaulig Racing in this Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Darlington Raceway.
Kyle Larson is set to make his first start of the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series season in this Saturday afternoon’s Shriners Children’s 200 at Darlington Raceway. He is set to do so with a team that also competes in the Cup Series, but not the organization for which he currently competes.
Larson is set to drive the No. 10 Chevrolet for Kaulig Racing in this 147-lap race around the four-turn, 1.366-mile (2.198-kilometer) Darlington, South Carolina oval.
Saturday’s race at “The Track Too Tough to Tame” marks Larson’s first ever start for Matt Kaulig’s team. He is set to compete alongside full-time drivers Daniel Hemric (No. 11 Chevrolet) and rookie Chandler Smith (No. 16 Chevrolet) at a track where he has never won in the Cup Series or the Xfinity Series, despite having consistently run well.
Last year, Larson competed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for the first time since 2018, when he was still with Chip Ganassi Racing.
He competed in three races in 2022, including two with his Cup Series team, Hendrick Motorsports. Prior to 2022, Hendrick Motorsports hadn’t competed in the Xfinity Series since 2009.
He also competed in one race for JR Motorsports, the full-time Xfinity Series team which have an affiliation with Rick Hendrick’s organization.
Larson is currently lined up to compete in two more Xfinity Series races this season, both with Hendrick Motorsports. He is set to drive the No. 17 Chevrolet at Sonoma Raceway in June and then again at Darlington Raceway in September.
Hendrick Motorsports are not fielding the No. 17 Chevrolet in this Saturday afternoon’s race, and JR Motorsports are also not fielding their part-time entry, the No. 88 Chevrolet, which Larson drove in one race last year.
The Shriners Children’s 200 is scheduled to take place this Saturday, May 13, and is set to be broadcast live on Fox from Darlington Raceway beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET. Begin a free trial of FuboTV now and don’t miss it!
