Denny Hamlin has failed to win a NASCAR Cup Series in his 17-year career, the 2022 Cup Series season is the 41-y-o latest chance to get the championship he craves so much.
Dale Earnhardt Jr’s former crew chief Steve Letarte does not believe it will happen for Denny Hamlin this season.

When questioned about Hamlin’s chances, Letarte said, “It is unfortunate to say, but I think the answer for Denny Hamlin is no. This isn’t the year for a championship, only because he has yet to win one as an owner. He now has two cars, the distractions are bigger.
He may prove me wrong, I hope he does, he deserves a championship… I just don’t see how you can, at this point, say anyone is going to win the championship. It’s hard enough to pick who’s going to be in the championship 4.”

Dale Jr ex crew chief Steve Letarte however does have a point, because there is a possibility that Denny’s attention will be split, he’ll have to choose between focusing on his own performances and 23XI Racing’s progress.
Denny Hamlin has a total of 46 career wins and 305 Top 10 finishes to his in his ranks, last season, he only had himself and Bubba Wallace to worry about. This season, Kurt Busch has been added to the mix which now makes it three cars to keep up with.
