One of F1’s greatest drivers of all time, Lewis Hamilton, has been breaking records left, right and centre. So, of course, it wasn’t going to be long before someone decided to look into the life of a true legend of the sport.
Streaming giant Apple TV+ had secured the rights to show a feature documentary all about the seven-time World Champion and his quest for an eighth title.
With full access to Lewis and his team, we’ve got high hopes for the show. It’s also promising “an all-star cast of guest interviews” and footage from on and off the track.
“Hamilton has blazed an uncharted trail professionally, socially and culturally, and transformed the sport on a global scale,” the statement from Apple TV+ said.
“Coming from a working-class family, Lewis succeeded in a sport where the odds were stacked against him but where his talent shone through, allowing him to dominate the sport for over a decade.
“Hamilton is currently the only Black driver to race in the Formula 1 series. He embraced what made him different and his rise to the top of his career has made him fiercely committed to using his platform to influence positive change for future generations.”
The project doesn’t have a name or a release date yet, but Hamilton won’t only be starring in it, he’ll be helping to produce it alongside Box to Box Films, who brought Netflix’s Drive To Survive to our screens.
Alongside his documentary, Hamilton’s also been linked to an upcoming Apple original film based around F1, which is set to star Brad Pitt.
Driver documentaries seem to be all the rage at the moment, as earlier this month Dutch broadcaster Viaplay released ‘Lion Unleashed’, looking back on Verstappen’s 2021 title fight and included exclusive interviews from the champion himself.
